This project will demonstrate an ICT-based solution for
improving planned and emergency repair and maintenance processes in the
maritime industry. A software tool kit will be developed to model, facilitate
and co-ordinate the interaction between maritime companies forming a virtual
organisation on the Internet. Web-agents will support the following functions:
-
to set up the organisation,
-
to integrate its members, and
-
to manage its operation.
Local applications for workflow management, maintenance planning and ship
design and construction will be interfaced to this maritime enterprise
integration tool. Product data like technical specifications, certificates,
tenders and process data, such as task definitions, resources, schedules
will be exchanged using the STEP and WFMC standards. Where necessary new
specifications will be developed. MARVIN will also recommend practices
for dealing with the legal aspects of a maritime virtual organisation.
